The mugs, and creamer and sugar service, are sturdy white stoneware / porcelain mix with hand-carved Van Gogh styled skies and textured landscape.

Smaller creamer and sugar $32. larger $36-42. Mugs holding a volume of 1 cup or slightly less $24. Mugs holding a volume 1-2 cups $26-$32.

Holdread Studio functional pottery is dishwasher & microwave safe and contains no lead glazes.

Desert Born Vessels

Signed numbered series.

My explorations of vessels shifted to landscape inspired pieces in 1991. The Desert Born Vessels include cactus portraits, Van Gogh style incised skies, perforations and impressions of actual fossils and cactus skeletons. Earlier works incorporated thrown forms, brushed designs and impressions of jewelry using low fire clays and glazes. By 1995 the DB series became exclusively stoneware.

Shapes vary from: classical, tall classical, cylinder, gourd, and round.

The textured landscapes may include Van Gogh Skies, lizards, fossils, agave, Joshua tree, prickly pear or barrel cactus, organ pipe or saguaro.
